Scaffolder with Missing Mileage and Wrong Entity Issues Given Interim Licence at Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry
The operator in this case, represented at Public Inquiry by barrister Harry Bowyer, was advised by his accountant to become a limited company. This he did without realising the issues that the change of entity would raise at the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
His problems were increased as he had added an 18 tonne vehicle to his fleet without realising that he could not use the same tachograph exemption that was available for his 7.5 tonners. This produced a large amount of missing mileage.
The Traffic Commissioner was impressed with the efforts that the scaffolder had made to be compliant and granted an interim in the new name to be granted in full with the full authorisation applied for subject to a satisfactory audit.
