Representors Successful in Opposing the Use of a Residential Driveway as an Operating Centre for an HGV
The Operator had been using a 5 tonne Kebab Van for some years without a licence, parking it on a residential driveway when not in use. His neighbours, represented by barrister Harry Bowyer, had objected to the council who failed completely in their duty to get a grip on what was clearly an intrusive, noisy and smelly operation in a quiet residential street. When the operator eventually decided to apply for a licence the representors put in their representations. The Traffic Commissioner came down firmly of the side of the residents and as a result of his decision the kebab hungry denizens of this particular university town will have to wait until the operator finds a more suitable operating centre.
