Careless Driving – Driver Keeps Licence

Defendant, driving an 18 tonne flatbed, had a lapse of concentration which led him to cross the rumble strip into the hard shoulder where he clipped a van that had broken down. Both vehicles subsequently written off. After hearing from Harry Bowyer in mitigation the magistrates dealt with the defendant by way of a £400 fine with 6 penalty points which allowed him to keep his licence.
