PHV Operator Fined £40.00 for Employing an Unlicenced Hackney Carriage Driver.

This Private Hire Vehicle Operator was charged with employing an unlicenced hackney carriage driver. The matter was dealt with in absence, where a fine of £550.00 + costs, totalling £2551.00 was imposed. Millicent Dooher represented the Operator at the re-opening hearing before the Magistrates. The Magistrates accepted the application to reopen and considered the mitigation put forwards by Millicent. The Court reduced the fine to £40.00 and reduced the costs, the total amount being £1528.50, saving the client more than £1000.00.
