Operator with Two Licences Allowed to Consolidate Operation at Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry

The operator in this matter, represented at Public Inquiry by Harry Bowyer, had two companies each with a licence in the same traffic area. He was the sole director of one and his mother was the sole director of another but he was the Transport Manager. The Traffic Commissioner was not happy with this arrangement (The mother spoke only Russian and lives in the Baltic States). As the Operator had not used the margin in his own company he could as easily have run all of the trucks through one company with half of the administration and and expense. The TC allowed the surrender of the “mother’s” company and allowed the operator to continue with his own licence.
