Operator with Restricted Licence Keeps Licence at Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry

The Operator at this Public Inquiry, represented by Barrister Harry Bowyer, was called in after the DVSA had visited his premises on two occasions. His was a typical example of the worse end of the Restricted Licence scale. The DVSA found a litany of ills which included no daily defect inspections, late and missed PMIs and no real system for checking his drivers’ hours infringements. There was an unhappy history of prohibitions and MOT failures.

At the eleventh hour he took advice from reputable Transport Consultants who audited the company and helped him set up his systems so that he could be compliant going forward.

The Traffic Commissioner was impressed enough with the efforts thus made to allow the licence to continue subject to a temporary curtailment and a number of undertakings.
