No Action Taken at Licensing Review Meeting for Private Hire Driver

Our client, a Private Hire Driver, was called to a Licencing Review Meeting, with the Local Authority, following allegations of misconduct from a member of the public. Licencing Officers have authority to revoke a Driver’s Licence if they believe that there is evidence that the driver is no longer a fit and proper person to hold a licence. In this instance, the allegation, if believed, would have resulted in revocation. Laura Newton represented the Driver at the meeting, having previously met with the Driver to prepare the case. The Driver give evidence regarding the allegation and provided evidence to support his account, undermining the suggestions made by the complainant. Following representations being made by our solicitor at the end of the meeting, it was decided that no action would be taken and the Local Authority accepted that the Driver remained a fit and proper person, allowing him to continue working.
