MOT Tester Reduces Cessation on Appeal

An MOT Tester was investigated by DVSA following an undercover visit by a Vehicle Examiner. On the day of the visit, the Tester had discovered a fault on a vehicle and marked the MOT as a fail. However, instead of repairing the defect, he accepted the owner’s promise that the vehicle would be fixed, and issued an MOT Pass Certificate. Under the MOT Guide, the Tester was given a 5 year Cessation. Laura Newton represented the Tester on Appeal and the Cessation was reduced to two years.
