Lost wheel on a light Trailer towed behind a van brings HGV operator before the Traffic Commissioner

The loss of any wheel of any vehicle will almost always come to the attention of the Traffic Commissioner. This
operator experiences a wheel loss on a light goods vehicle trailer that was not inscope of the operators licence.
This brought the spotlight on the opertors licence and Public Inquiry was called becuase the business held an O
Licence. The operator who operated a large fleet of light goods vehicles had reflected upone what had happened
and introduced robust regime of inspection for all of the vehicles in its fleet and this was sufficient to pursuade the
Traffic Commissioner he could be trusted to be compliant in the future and the business continued to benefit from
its operator’s licence.
