Honesty in Regard to Shortcomings Assists Operator Retain Licence

SBC barrister, Helen Newbold, represented this operator who was called into Public Inquiry regarding a significant number of issues surrounding his restricted licence.

The Traffic Commissioner stated that the severity of issues in the call-in letter meant that a revocation of the licence was a very real possibility.

When taken through his evidence, by Helen Newbold, the Operator made it very clear to the Traffic Commissioner that he now realised how far short of the statutory requirements his company had fallen. He also acknowledged his understanding of why the issues were of such a concern to the Traffic Commissioner. The Traffic Commissioner considered and accepted a significant number of undertakings made by the Operator in order to give him an opportunity to rectify the situation and move the company forward in preparation for possible future expansion.
