HGV Driver has Licence Restored by Traffic Commissioner

Our client, an HGV Driver, had been disqualified from driving for a period of 12 months, following a conviction for drink-driving. In applying for the return of his Licence, he was also required to apply to the Traffic Commissioner for his vocational entitlements to be restored, in addition to the normal car licence. Traffic Commissioners have the power to refuse or delay the return of the Licence, depending on their assessment of a driver’s fitness.  Following written representations by our solicitor Laura Newton, the Traffic Commissioner agreed to return the HGV Licence without a hearing, within a month of the normal licence being restored.
