Operator with Card Pulling Drivers Keeps Licence at Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry

This operator, represented at Public Inquiry by Barrister Harry Bowyer, had a restricted licence. A visit from the DVSA revealed that a number of their drivers had been driving without cards. There were concerns that the sole director was living abroad. Action was taken to appoint a director to oversee the UK operation and a transport consultant was instructed to update the operator’s systems especially in regard to drivers’ hours. All was by no means perfect by the time of the Public inquiry but the licence was allowed to continue subject to a curtailment and a nod that any further call in would end unhappily for the operator!
