Adblue Emulator Found, Poor Regulatory History, Licence Allowed to Continue After Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry.

This Operator, represented at Public Inquiry by barrister Harry Bowyer, was found to be operating a truck fitted with an Adblue emulator.

When the DVSA probed further into the business they found that the operator had few systems in place to ensure regulatory compliance either in regard to drivers’ hours or maintenance. There were a number of prohibitions in the history of the licence

This was a family firm and it became plain that father, largely owing to ill health, was out of his depth in running this restricted licence. One of his sons was made a director and a new and highly competent office manager was put in place. A transport consultant was engaged to put in new systems which had begun to bite by the time of the Public Inquiry.

The Traffic Commissioner was impressed by the steps that had been put in place to ensure compliance, and the fact that the guard had been changed in its entirety since the Traffic Examiner’s visit, and allowed the licence to continue with a temporary curtailment to mark the regulatory failings.
