Transport Manager Troubles Lead to Traffic Commissioner’s Public Inquiry – Licence Kept

This Operator, represented at Public Inquiry by Barrister Harry Bowyer, had their transport manager go sick. They applied for a period of grace. After some time the Transport Manager announced that they were fit again and were re engaged – this raised some questions with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.

The Transport Manager’s new tenure only lasted a few weeks until they failed to appear after the Christmas break. A DVSA visit revealed that the affairs of the company had suffered during their period without a Transport Manager including the operation of two vehicles without MOTs.

The Operator, having contacted SBC, called in a competent transport consultant who reorganised their systems with the new Transport Manager. The Traffic Commissioner allowed the licence to continue subject to a temporary curtailment to mark the regulatory failings.
